Be Thankful and Love What You Have

Last afternoon, I received a bbm from my best friend at radio campus UNJ. He only passed four words in it “Cha, kerja capek ya?” I was speechless a moment. Then, typing words that came to my mind suddenly, "I thought you should pray Tahajud every night and wish that you will reborn at a very rich family so that u don't have to work'. And this time he was speechless.

Currently within this week, I’ve been seeing some of my friends also talking about a new job due to the resignation of my friend to a reputable oil and gas company and of course with a triple salary of ours. They’ve been talking about how to get such a job and such salary in the middle of office hours. The climax is when I see some of them opening several job portals and posting their CV, talking about the jobs and the possibilities repeatedly instead of focus on their current job (plus they lost their official work hours that day). The worst, the habit is continued by the next day until I writing this. What I thought the time I saw their actions was 'How come they wasting their time only for massively talking about how to get a new job, while they even don't enjoy and feel grateful of what they have right now? Of the job they entered into? How come people said that work is something that makes us tired?

In this case, I am trying to divide a person into four: satisfy and grateful person, satisfy but not grateful, unsatisfied but still grateful, or unsatisfied and not grateful. I might be categorized some of my friends as unsatisfied and not grateful. As a human, it's our nature to not feel satisfy. Correction: We never satisfy! We will do everything to make all the dreams come true. However, do we forget that God is the Almighty. He also takes parts in deciding what our dreams should be. If He says Yes, it will be, if he says No, it won't be. When He has decided, the one thing we can do only feel grateful, whether the result is good or not.

On the other hand, as I identifying the case of my friends, if they feel satisfy with the job and position they have, they won't easily being provoked only by someone decided to resign and paid higher than we've being paid now. Okay, maybe one of the goal why people having a job is to pursue his/her dream career, but how can someone pursue it when they are not focus on what they are doing right now. How possible people will get a new job whereas they aren’t appreciating and loving their current job?

I just believe that everyone has been given a way to pursue his/her career at a right time. Instead of looking for other jobs every day, why not we try to focus on our job right now, who knows that the job will give you a step for you to develop your career in the future. That’s why I thought, based on my friends’ case, people still not feel grateful. Actually, people who not feel grateful is people who never love their job so that they always feel tired of what they’re doing, unsatisfied and insecure. They afraid of his/her future too much, to move on and afraid of God’s decision.  I heard an old proverb that “he who feels grateful will gain more”. It’s absolutely true when we believe that to feel grateful of what we have; God will make a way to us to pursue our dream, in a right time, right place, and right situation.

In addition, instead of wasting our time to open job portals every time in office hours, try to focus on our current job. Focus on what we can give to our company and sooner or later you will know what’s your real dream and passion are and lead to a dream job that you’ve been looking for. You can open job portals in your free time, once or twice, but don’t let it grabs your focus. In case someday you find that your current job doesn’t support your passion to pursue your dream career just feel grateful because there are many poor and unemployed people around us. By being grateful, God will help you to find another dream job for you. Love your job, love yourself, and God will love you as well.
